This high intermediate course allows students to reinforce and expand their ability to express themselves, defend an opinion, and debate with others. Special attention is paid to increasing students' ability to form complex sentences to express attitudes, wishes, necessity, doubt, emotions, to link ideas and to speculate.

Learning Outcomes
- Linguistic LO ( DELF B1+) : Students will acquire sufficient vocabulary and control of the main grammatical structures to be able to express most of what they want to say relatively easily.
- At this level the students consolidate and expand on the linguistic and socio-cultural skills acquired to date.
- They will reinforce their abilities to understand selected authentic written, audio and video documents written in various registers (everyday language with different accents to more specialized terminology).
- Experiential LO: civic engagement : Students will learn about French and Francophone cultures and societies through the specific angle of civic engagement and community service.
- The students will practice aural and reading comprehension, learn to extract key information from radio and television documentaries, newspaper articles about French society and its ills, its ideals of “Fraternity and Solidarity”, issues particularly interesting to the students’ notions of social justice and civic engagement.
- By being placed in varied real-life communication situations and varied socio-cultural contexts, they will improve their capacities to listen and express their ideas simply and coherently in order to identify what form their civic engagement should take, which NGO’s fits their world view best.
- They will volunteer and integrate into a French collective, respect rules and regulations, feel good about asking questions and reflect upon their experiences, share it on social media, in class and during a one-to one interview with the instructor.
